Causes and Characteristics:

  • Earthquakes: Caused by the movement of tectonic plates beneath the Earth’s surface.
  • Floods: Result from heavy rainfall, storm surges, or the rapid melting of snow and ice.
  • Hurricanes: Form over warm ocean waters, fueled by the heat and moisture.
  • Tornadoes: Develop in severe thunderstorms, characterized by a twisting, funnel-shaped cloud.
  • Wildfires: Often sparked by lightning, human activities, or a combination of both.

Preparedness and Mitigation:
